NELLIKA ACHAR - GOOSEBERRY PICKLE
Ingredients:
Gooseberry (Nellikka) : 250gms Washed and Cleaned
Ginger chopped : ½ tsp
Garlic chopped : 1/2tsp
Curry leaves : 2strings
Mustard seeds : ½ tsp
Green chilly chopped : 1tsp
Chilly powder : 1 ½ tsp
Coriander powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
Tamarind juice : 1 tsp
Asafetida (kayam) powder: ½ tsp
Fenugreek powder (uluva) powder : ½ tsp
Oil : 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method
Steam the gooseberry for 3 minutes. Cut into small pieces. Take a pan. Heat oil. Put mustard first. Then put Ginger chopped Garlic chopped , Curry leaves. Heat it till it becomes golden brown. Next add Green chilly chopped, Chilly powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder and Fenugreek powder. Stir it till the raw smell goes. Add tamarind juice. Add gooseberry pieces into it. Add salt .Cover it for 1 minute in a low flame.You can use this pickle now its self.This pickle is not keep for a long time.Keep it in fridge for 2 weeks.
