PACHADI
Onion Pachadi
Pachadi is a common item in sadya, there are many types of pachadies and have different colours.It gives a nice look to "sadya".We can prepare it easily with and without using coconut. Here I have prepared three types. Onion pachadi, Beetroot pachadi and Pineapple pachadi.
Ingredients:
curd - 11/2 cup
big oinion 1 cup
ginger - 1/2 tsp
green chilly - 1 tsp
oil - 2 tbsp
salt to taste.
mustard seed - 1 tsp
curry leaves - 1 stalk
dry red chilly - 1 or 2
oil - 1 tsp
Method:
Heat the pan with 2tsp oil and put ginger and green chilly chopped and saute till the raw smell goes. Next put onions, fry it til it becomes transparent. Now take the ingredients and pour it into the curd.Splutter the mustard, dry red chilly and curry leaves in oil,pour it into the curd Add salt. Serve it with rice.
Beetroot Pachadi
Ingredients:
curd - 11/2 cup
beetroot- 1 cup (grated)
big oinion -1/4 cup
ginger - 1/2 tsp
green chilly - 1 tsp
salt to taste.
oil - 2 tbsp
mustard seed - 1 tsp
curry leaves - 1 stal
dry red chilly -1 or 2
oil - 1 tsp
Method:
Heat the pan with 2tbsp oil put ginger and green chilly chopped stir it for one minite and add chopped onions saute till the raw smell goes. Next put grated beetroot and enough salt mix all, and close the pan for two minutes, now take the ingredients and pour it in the curd.Splutter the mustard, dry red chilly and curry leaves in oil.Pour it into the beetroot pachadi. Serve it with rice.
Pineapple pachadi
Ingredients:
curd - 1 cup
Pine apple - 1 cup (chipped)
Water - 1/2 cup
green chilly - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coconut - 11/2 cup (grated)
cumin seeds (jeerakam) - 3/4 tsp
small onion - 4 - 6 nos
salt to taste.
mustard seed - 11/2 tsp
curry leaves - 1 stalk
dry red chilly - 1 or 2
oil - 2 tsp
Method:
Take a pan put chopped pineapple, green chilly, turmeric powder and 1/4 cup water close with a lid and allow it to cook for 5 minutes.Make a fine paste with grated coconut, cumin seeds,1/4 tsp mustard seeds and small onins. add this coconut mixture into the cooked pineapple , mix it well and allow it for 1minute in medium flame ,stir continusely .Put off the fire and add curd to the mixture.Splutter the mustard, dry red chilly and curry leaves in oil. Pour this in to the pineapple pachadi. Serve it with rice.
