Toor dal -1 cup
Small onions - 5-8
Amarakka - 5-8
Green chilly -2
Potato - 1
Carrot - 1
Snake gourd - 11/2 inch
Lady's finger - 4
Yam (chena) -1/4 cup
Bringal - 2
Cucumber - 1/4 cup
Drumsticks -1
Big onion -1
Tomato - 1
Garlic - 3 nos
water - required
Tamarind juice - 3 tbs
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder -1 1/2 tbsp
Coriander powder - 2 1/4 tbsp
Asafoitida powder -1/4 tsp
Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt
Oil - 1tbsp
Dry red chillies - 2
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Asafoetida -1 pinch
Fenugreek powder -1 pinch

Method
In a pressure cooker put 1 cup dal , small onion, amarakka, greenchilly and turmeric powder ,with 1 1/2 cup water.Allow it to cook for 10 minutes or till it done.Add the cubed vegetables, tamarind juice,chilly powder,coriander powder, asafoiteda and fenugreek powder (1/4tsp), garlic and salt. allow it to cook with required water for another 5 minutes.

Take a pan splutter the mustard followed by curry leaves and dried red chilly.Add a pinch of asafoetida powder and fenugreek powder. Pour this in to the sambar.Serve it with rice, idli, dosa...
